When Lovango Resort re-did its waterfront this year, they started with a question we wish every operator asked: what does the reef need? The answer became sixteen new mooring buoys — so charter boats stop anchoring on coral — and a dock lighting retrofit that keeps spawning cues intact.
The kitchen changed too. The menu now runs on invasive lionfish and locally farmed conch, taking pressure off the reef fish populations our surveys have watched decline for a decade.
Resort guests can join our Wednesday snorkel surveys straight from their dock. Tourism and reef health are usually told as a conflict; Lovango is proof they don’t have to be.
